Kim and Savana

Kim and her steak Florentine: love at first sight!
Today we went to see Alessandro Menichini whose store in Via Battisteria has the best international fabric collections in the world.  Plus he is a real cutie pie. He has an astounding knowledge of textiles and his eye for design is unparalleled. I cry from the beauty of it all every time I enter his store.  By now he is used to it. He showed Kim some animal print fabrics that have raised the bar for what she could have ever imagined possible in terms of quality, feel, and opulence. He designs rooms from the style of Louis XIII to Art Deco and Contemporary for jet set clients from all over the globe.  He told us about how his father designed a bed for Jackie O for her one night stay in Villa Reale in 1960.

After we shared some stories and an apertivo, Alessandro took us to a fabulous gourmet store called Delicatezze on Via Giorgio where we sampled a spread made from creamery butter, parmagiano, and tartufo. It was so good that I saved the last bite in my sweaty palm for more than 45 minutes so that F could try it when he reached us for dinner at Osteria Via San Giorgio. Savana almost fell asleep in her pasta so we had to postpone our Real Housewives of New Jersey on the airmattress with gourmet popcorn night for tomorrow.

Arrivederci, Brooklyn!
