Brite Smiles
Now I generally go out of my way to seek out the obscure or the quirky, but I wasn't prepared when I opened my inbox this morning and got a request from Ashkan for something by Linda Perhacs.

Ready?

A dental hygienist who made one record in 1970 that was utterly ignored at the time, who has become an icon of the freak-folk movement. The common comparison is to Joni Mitchell, but JM never made anything remotely this weird. The density and cantankerous sonic experimentation bring to my mind Cat Power at her most soused and misanthropic, or Issa/Jane Siberry at her ordinary everyday level of oddity.
